Thanks for dropping in to #HealthHackers
Hey, I'm Gemma Evans. I've been a television news journalist, presenter, reporter & producer for Sky News, Channel 5 News and ITV in the UK for over 13 years.
I've been lucky enough to spend most of my career making telly in thrilling locations; from the top of volcanoes to underground sewers (really) while meeting fascinating people with compelling stories along the way (see what I mean by watching this video).
However, I also happen to be a major health geek, so it was only a matter of time before I combined my love of broadcasting with my solid nerdiness and HealthHackers - my video and podcast series - was born.
As is often the case, there's a backstory to my quest for optimum wellness.
I spent most of my late teens and 20s looking for ways to pull myself out of various health issues that were largely - I came to learn - linked to diet and lifestyle.
I spent a heck of a lot of time working with doctors, consultants, nutritionists, functional medicine practitioners, therapists and other experts trying to put right what had been going wrong in my body.
I had great success with some methods but not with others.
I discovered a lot of information from these experts and did a fair bit of experimenting on myself (although I wouldn't recommended anyone follow my tactics).
I read various books, was constantly listening to the latest health and biohacking podcasts, and contacted more and more great thinkers, speakers and authors in the fields of health and lifestyle who were making headlines with their own methods to help people build up their strength and feel well again.
That's when the idea of #HealthHackers first popped into my head.
It's a video & podcast series devoted to nailing the secrets, habits and techniques of pioneers in health, fitness and mindset. A way to find out what works for them.
These are people who are sometimes doing things a bit differently. Their methods may be unusual and, at times, even controversial - but all are 100% fascinating.
I've come to find there's never one answer or one explanation that is right for everyone to achieve optimal health. I'm still wading through new ones everyday. But by getting inside the minds of those inspiring others on the health scene right now, you can at least see and hear different approaches and then make up your own mind.
