Thanks for dropping in to healthHackers®
I'm Gemma Evans - a broadcast journalist with 13 years' experience as a television news presenter, reporter and producer for Sky, Channel 5 and ITV.
My broadcasting career has involved making telly in exciting locations; from the top of volcanoes to deep underground in the sewers of London (really) whilst meeting fascinating people with compelling stories and innovations along the way (see what I mean in this short video).
I also happen to be a major health geek, so it was only a matter of time before I combined my years of broadcasting with my wellness nerdiness, and healthHackers® - my video and podcast series - was born.
As is often the case, there's a backstory to my fascination with optimising health. After some issues in my teens - thought to have been linked to nutrition - I spent much of the following 20 years researching ways to keep improving my health.
I’ve experimented with many methods, trends and technologies ranging from basic blood sugar regulation, repopulating my gut microbiome, and strict ketogenic eating, to using bioidentical hormones*, red light devices, hyperbaric oxygen treatment*, vagal nerve toning, vestibular nerve stimulation and EFT tapping - to name merely a few.
*Medically supervised. Don’t go dabbling by yourself (!)
I’ve met with more health experts, doctors and other practitioners than I can count. And as the presenter of Sky TV’s weekly tech show for several years, I loved selecting great health-tech innovators to feature on the programme, sharing insights into futuristic ways of improving our bodies.
So, creating healthHackers® - a platform to showcase pioneering people and for me to try out some of the new technologies designed to help us improve our health - seemed like a logical move!
All of my guests on healthHackers® are doing things a bit differently, unique or unprecedented in some way. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the episodes.
I've come to find there's never one solution or explanation that is right for everyone to achieve optimal physical and mental well-being. I'm wading through new ideas all the time. But by getting inside the minds of those inspiring others on the health scene right now, you can at least see and hear different approaches and then make up your own mind.
